Intelligent Systems

Master's programme Artificial Intelligence

This track is focused on intelligent methods and techniques for (autonomous) systems that interpret sensory information of different modalities and use that information to generate intelligent and goal-directed behaviour. Intelligent methods and techniques are of vital importance of any intelligent autonomous system, which perceives and acts. This includes the formalization, generalization and learning of goal-directed behaviour in autonomous systems such as autonomous vehicles, robots, or visual servoing systems.

Further, this programme focuses on methodologies to create intelligent multimedia-information systems to access and classify multimodal information such as the retrieval/search of documents/images/videos, data mining, and intelligent agents on the Internet. Main topics are machine learning, computer vision, robots and autonomous systems, multi-agent systems.

Besides the core curriculum the following courses are offered in the Intelligent systems track:

  • Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (track course)
  • Computer Vision (track course)
  • Machine Learning: Principles and Methods
  • Advanced Information Retrieval
  • Web Text Mining

Is Intelligent systems the study for me?

The programme is looking for student who are fascinated by science fiction, robotics, development of digital search engines, and technical aspects of perception.

You want to learn how to design intelligent methods and techniques that interpret sensory information in different modalities (e.g. speech, language, and vision), and how to use this information to generate intelligent and goal-directed behaviour.

Furthermore, you need to have:

  • a sense of curiousity
  • good communication and social skills
  • the ability to focus
  • a feeling for mathematics and physics.
